MLK, JR. Day of Service

Join Penn Ave for a day of Service & Sock Hop to celebrate Martin Luther King JR day. This event is in collaboration with the Bloomfield-Garfield Corporation, Kelly Strayhorn Theater, BOOM Concepts, True T PGH, and the Pittsburgh Glass Center.
All activities act independently of each other or can be enjoyed together.

Start at the BGC Community Center, 113 N Pacific Ave Pittsburgh PA 15224
12:00pm – 4:00pm The BGC and True T PGH will have free coats for the community. Participants can also drop off winter accessory donations and grab trash bags to help be a service to the community. Participants will take their bags and walk towards the Pittsburgh Glass Center to enjoy planned activities while picking up and beautifying the community.

Drop off your full garbage bag at the Pittsburgh Glass center (10am-4pm) and learn about glass and the importance of teamwork in the creative process with Free Glassblowing and Flameworking Demonstrations. Participate in activities, explore the gallery, and celebrate local artists with our current exhibition: Gathered Locally. Bring a book to donate or take a book from our Free Little Library! Then grab a fresh trash bag and head down to the next stop!
